In search of a new songbook for the early 21st Century, Abel & Rawls' 2019 release, Clay, has influences from Lyle Lovett to Cole Porter to Squeeze to Van Morrison to Gregg Allman to Pink Floyd to Uncle Tupelo. This collection of nine songs is a statement of confusion (“Living Two Lives”) and roots (“Colored by the Clay”) to whimsy (“Chemistry”) and the search for meaning (“What Do You Want Me to Say?”). Joined by Will Turpin (Collective Soul), Mark Wilson (Reluctant Saints), Sloan Hayes (Starbuck), and Melody Kiser (HeyDreamer), Clay delivers musically and lyrically. Songs for this moment, at this place, with no preconditions.

The album is dedicated to the loving memory of our dear friend, mentor and founder of Real 2 Reel Studios, Bill Turpin.

Recorded at Real 2 Reel Studios and Head Above Water in 2018 and 2019. Mixed and mastered by Steve Rawls at Head Above Water. Produced by Abel & Rawls. Visit the artist's website for CD purchases, news, photos and video content.
